Aimed to help students who are taking the High School Diploma Examination (HKDSE) Visual Arts in school and self-study students to better their school-based assignment (SBA) and conduct exam skills training. Providing the much needed creative guidance, and drawing skills training.
The school-based assessment portfolio of DSE Visual Arts accounts for 50% of the total score.
Providing small-class teaching, students and tutors will discuss the creative theme in class, and the tutors will give advice and guidance according to students’ needs. From setting themes, creating ideas, developing sketches, researching inspiration to completing the artwork, we cooperate with students to make all aspects of the artwork perfect; assisting students to complete a high-level DSE school-based assessment portfolio.
The DSE visual arts examination paper is divided into two parts:
The instructor will provide mock papers, guiding students to establish the paragraph themes, section visual elements to different paragraphs, and write a concise and easy-to-mark answer sheet. The instructor will provide creative guidance and drawing skills training to help students create an artwork that meets the DSE standards within a limited time.
-This course is designed for middle school DSE visual arts students. The instructor carefully follows the progress of the students and develop individual teaching plan. From preliminary preparation (such as collecting reference pictures, familiarizing with the painting medium) to test-taking skills (such as composition, use of reference materials, answer thinking techniques), this course will improve students’ performance, and help them get better results.

A Level Art and Design consists of two units of controlled assessment/portfolio which aim to develop the study skills essential to the subject whilst fully meeting the four assessment objectives. The practices undertaken are painting, drawing, textiles, printmaking and 3D/2D design.
Unit 1: 60% Coursework, sketchbook, explorations, drawings, experiments and final piece
Unit 2: 40% Externally-set 15 hour assignment consisting of sketchbook and final piece
Throughout the course students are monitored and assessed according to the four A Level assessment objectives:
A01- Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
A02- Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining your ideas as your work develops.
A03- Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to your intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.
A04- Present a personal and meaningful response that realizes intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements (written and oral).
Students will build essential skill and techniques, which can be used during the Personal Investigation. The Personal Investigation is a substantial folio of work produced to respond to a concept or theme of your choice. Students need to study the genres, the styles and the characteristics of different artists to discover their orientation and form their own aesthetic and style of work.
With our fantastic track record of getting students onto their chosen courses, we will support students in applying to their targeted art colleges.
The course is divided into five parts:
This course is designed for students who are interested in or intend to develop art but with no Visual Arts elective/support at school. It helps students strengthen their drawing, design, creative and appreciation skills. Our instructors follow closely the creative process of the student’s portfolio, from establishing ideas, sketches to work production, and give advice and help, allowing students to gain a better grasp on the techniques, and laying a solid foundation for the university application portfolio.
