Syllabus for “Oil Painting Studio Course I”

1.Teaching objectives of the course

Students will collect visual materials, refine and process them, and express their understanding and observation of life and society in the form of Chinese painting.

2.Course nature and tasks

Enables students to transform observation and understanding of life and collected materials to artistic ideas and expressions with their learnt skills. Students will be guided through different aspects, such as culture cultivation, sense of aesthetics, visual material collection, theme exploration, composition and form, visual language, painting techniques, personal style, tools and materials etc, to improve students’ oil painting performance and creative ability.

3.Basic Requirements

Artistic concept is formed with a composition that closely combined artistic expression with techniques. It requires an expressive drawing language, a trained process of observation and execution. Choose the theme carefully, collect visual materials on a daily base, and make breakthroughs with the subject matter and painting materials, so that your creation can be unconventional and have a distinct personality.
