Fundamentals

The task of basic training is to help students master the rules of observation and enhance their form awareness based on their level and needs. Students will gradually cultivate a scientific observation method and develop their sense of aesthetics.

Mastering the fundamentals of form, different medium and method. Ability to represent the structure of the shape, colour relationship, texture, and spatial relations of the object. Deepening the understanding of the physical structure, colour, space, as well as composition, and cultivate a keen sense of colour and observation.

Colour represents light and matter. It contains three major elements: chroma, lightness, and saturation. These three elements are the components of hue, which determines its position in the colour model. The lightness of the colour is determined by the light’s emission ability, the brightness of the colour is determined by the material’s radiation ability and the nature of the external light source. There are four major expressions of colour in nature and human society, namely: the colour of the light source, inherent colour, environmental colour, and spatial colour. The relationship between the three major elements and the four major expressions of colour is essential in the practical application of colour.
